Error: You are currently using NetWare servers...(due to IPX network protocol).
Error:
You are currently using NetWare servers which will be inaccessible if you establish this connection.
Cause:
If a server-based-setup (SBS) client computer connects to the server using only IPX network protocol, an error message is displayed. When using IPX protocol, connection can only be made to one network at a time. When Dial-Up Networking is used, the SBS client computer cannot access the server containing the system components.
Solution:
In 'Dial-Up Networking, select 'PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT, Internet' from the 'Type of Dial-Up Server' drop-down list box. Select the additional protocols to use. If TCP/IP was selected, click 'TCP/IP Settings...' and configure TCP/IP.
NOTE: Using another protocol in addition to IPX permits you to establish another connection and still retain your connection as an SBS client computer. The additional protocols that you add must be in use by the server.
1) In the 'Dial-Up Networking' window, right-click the 'Dial-Up Networking' connection, and select 'Properties'.
2) Click 'Server Type...'. (The 'Server Types' dialog box appears.)
3) From the 'Type of Dial-Up Server' drop-down list box, select 'PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT, Internet'.
NOTE 1: Selecting PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) as the server type will permit you to use the TCP/IP, IPX, and NetBEUI protocols.
NOTE 2: The server type 'Windows for Workgroups and Windows NT 3.1' only supports the NetBEUI protocol. The server type 'NRN: NetWare Connect' only supports the IPX protocol. These server types do not permit you to connect to the Internet.
4) In the 'Allowed network protocols' group, select the check boxes for the protocols in use by your server.
NOTE 1: You can select more than one protocol. All selected protocols will be bound to your network adapter. Select only those protocols you need in order to connect to the resources on your network.
NOTE: 2: Do NOT clear the 'IPX/SPX Compatible' check box if you need to connect to NetWare resources on your network.
5) (Special Case) If you selected the 'TCP/IP' check box, then do the following to configure TCP/IP:
a) Click 'TCP/IP Settings...'. (The 'TCP/IP Settings' dialog box appears.)
b) Select the 'Server assigned IP address' radio button.
c) Select the 'Server assigned name server addresses' radio button.
NOTE: If your server is not configured to automatically assign IP addresses to network clients, and you must manually specify static IP addresses for your computer and name servers, contact your network administrator.
d) Click 'OK'.
6) Click 'OK'. (The 'Server Types' dialog box closes.)
7) Click 'OK'.
